10+ Camp Nurses

Camp Lohikan operates an on-premises Health Center staffed by a health services manager, camp physician, 5 to 6 registered nurses, and medical assistants.


Camp nurses are responsible for organizing and managing the dispensing of all medications, as well as caring for sick campers and staff on a daily basis. Camp nurses also work with the camp doctor to ensure the overall health and safety of the camp. Nurses may be expected to go with a camper or staff member to an emergency room or other medical facility. All applicants must be registered nurses with current licensure in the state of Pennsylvania. Experience with pediatrics, sleepaway camp, and/or a school setting are preferred.


  • Well-equipped, modern Health Center. There are three examining rooms available as well as a girl’s ward and a boy’s ward for those campers who may have to stay overnight.
  • Health Center is staffed by a health services manager, camp physician, 5 to 6 registered nurses, and medical assistants.
  • Private family-size living quarters available for medical staff members.
  • Meals and laundry service provided
  • Camp Tuition Credit for children of the camp’s medical staff
  • Professional liability insurance is provided for Lohikan’s medical staff
  • Closest hospital (Wayne County Hospital) is 23 miles away. EMS 2 miles away.
  • Season starts June 22nd and ends August 23rd.
