20+ Horsemanship Instructors

Camp Cayuga is a coed nonsectarian sleepaway camp located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of northeast Pennsylvania. Family owned and operated since 1962, Cayuga caters to normal average children of the ages 6 to 16.  Our success is directly related to the quality of our staff, who are dedicated to providing a safe, fun and nurturing environment for our campers.  Each camper is under the close care and direct supervision of at least 2 cabin counselors.  The youngest counselor is entering sophomore year of college.  Cayuga's staff is comprised of 135 counselors and over 40 senior staff, who assist our counselors and supervise various areas of the camp's program.  Our senior staff are professional educators, teachers, nurses, and coaches.  The staff/camper ratio is 1 to 4.  All staff attend a one-week orientation for qualifying and training prior to the campers' arrival.

SEEKING HORSEMANSHIP INSTRUCTORS:  We are seeking hard-working instructors who are qualified to teach horsemanship in both English & Western styles from beginner to advanced levels to children of all ages.   The Horsemanship Director is CHA certified (or equivalent) and has documented experience managing an Equestrian Program, including supervising staff, organizing classes, maintaining the facility, and caring for the horses.  The Horsemanship Staff is comprised of instructors who have certification in equine studies and/or experience teaching horsemanship classes to children of all abilities.  The staff is responsible for barn cleanliness (including mucking-out, sweeping, etc); health & care of our horses (including feeding, watering, grooming, tacking, walking-out); daily class assignments (ring instruction, trail rides) with appropriate instruction at all levels; and proper supervision at all times. Certification in first-aid and CPR is also recommended. Horseback Riding Instructors are trained, evaluated, and qualified by the Horsemanship Director prior to the campers' arrival. 

EQUESTRIAN ACTIVITIES:  Horseback Riding instruction in English & Western styles from beginner to advanced levels, trail rides, horse jumping, intracamp horse shows, intercamp horse shows, evening trail rides, horseback overnights, horse-care instruction, and petting zoo (miniature horse, goats, calf, bunnies, etc). 

EQUESTRIAN CENTER FACILITIES:  Stable for 20+ horses; 2 instructional riding rings; variety of jumps; tack building; wooded pastures; 5 miles of scenic horse trails; horseback overnight site; and a petting zoo including a miniature horse, goats, calf, bunnies, and more.  To see a complete list of all facilities, refer to the Facility List on our website.
