Camp Stanislaus is operated in conjunction with the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, a Catholic religious order of teaching Brothers who have operated St. Stanislaus College Prep since 1854. The camp has functioned successfully since 1928. A carefully supervised and structured environment enables a boy to succeed daily in a variety of recreational and academic pursuits, resulting in a fun, active, safe, and growth-filled summer. Campers have the opportunity to acquire new skills and improve old ones. These challenges enhance the camper’s individual character formation by focusing on his social skills, confidence, self-discipline, spirituality, team work, and leadership. Camp Stanislaus provides a non-competitive environment for our campers. We believe the camper competes with himself at the different activities. However, there are a few activities, such as basketball, soccer, and football, that encourage good sportsmanship and team spirit. One of our goals is to help the boys understand that the most important thing about competition is giving it your all. If you do your best, you are a winner every time you compete. Through participation in many of the activities of camp, each camper will experience personal growth and development. The camper will develop an appreciation, respect, and love for himself, his environment, his family, and others. This is further enhanced by his improved self-confidence, self-discipline, level of cooperation, and team spirit. The growth and development of each camper is a recurring daily theme with our staff.

Camp Staff
The staff at Camp Stanislaus consists of counselors and instructors chosen principally from among former campers, graduates, teachers, and coaches from the Brothers' schools throughout the south. There is approximately one staff person for every three campers. 40% of our staff are adults who primarily work with children year round. These staff members serve as a foundation of quality leadership for our younger staff. They provide a high level of safety in activities given their maturity and experience. At times, our adult staff members will serve in a parental role with some of our campers who experience homesickness, and they can offer insight to other problems a camper may be experiencing. Our CIT program allows us to train future leaders at Camp Stanislaus. This program helps train our younger staff to be great senior counselors when they graduate from high school. Most staff members have been certified in Boater Safety, CPR, First Aid and in Lifeguarding. On a daily basis, Camp Stanislaus emphasizes safety, camper enjoyment and camper development with our staff. Our staff retention ratio was over 65%.
Camp FAQs

Does my son need additional spending money?
No! Spending money is included in the camp fee. It is strongly recommended that the campers not have spending money at camp.

Can I buy a camp shirt?
Camp provides one complimentary t-shirt to campers during each session. We are currently exploring the idea of offering additional items for campers to purchase before they come to camp.

Can I call my son?
Telephone use is discouraged at camp by the campers. Our experiences indicate that this increases the homesickness of some campers. It also reduces the overall development of the camper with regard to independence. Not to mention, the mere problem of trying to allow 144 campers to use the phone can get very complicated. Parents are welcome to contact the camp office to check on their son.

How do the campers do their laundry?
Camp provides laundry service for campers attending sessions 1 & 2. Each camper must clearly label his personal belongings. There is no additional cost for this service. The clean clothes are returned to the campers within a couple of days.

Will the camp staff meet my son at the airport on opening day and bring him to the airport on the last day of camp?
Yes! For the safety of our campers, two staff members are required to pick-up and drop-off campers at the airport. There is no additional cost for this service. However, parents should make prior arrangements with the airlines regarding unaccompanied minor fees.
