For the past three summers, Bay Area children have enjoyed Lekha's enthusiastic and hands–on creative writing program. It's no wonder that more than 98% of parents whose children attend Lekha Camps say they would recommend us to a friend. Each year, we have seen a growing number of return students, many of whom continue in our after–school programs as well. Due to increased demand, we are expanding to six new locations this summer. These camps are offered for children entering 2nd grade through 9th grade or between the ages 7-14.

Our camp consists of two writing paths; the Lekha - developed creative writing path and an academic path. Both paths are four–week programs with the option to sign up for one, two, three, or four–week sessions. Campers who attend the recommended four weeks in the creative writing path will get to have one or more of their written works published in the 2009 edition of the annual Lekha Anthology, "Adventures of the Imagination." They will also receive a $75 discount off the fourth week, plus 30% off Extended Care. During the week, children will learn the basics of creative writing through fun and games. A typical day at the camp starts with a language warm-up session at 9:30 AM. As the day progresses they will take part in outdoor word games, story telling, writing, illustration, and peer-editing sessions. Depending on their comfort with computers they will learn formatting using Microsoft Word and Publisher on laptops.
