Summer Circles at Saint Joseph College

Saint Joseph College has evolved into a vibrant educational complex, it has never strayed from it original vision: that is, its commitment to preparing women for insightful leadership. We bring this critical aspect of our college mission to our summer program as well. In addition to their chosen course, all Summer Circles girls benefit from our leadership program.

Summer Circles at Saint Joseph College is a summer academic program for high school girls that offers immersive courses of study, a focus on leadership, engaged and talented staff, a diverse student group and plenty of time for fun and social activities

This summer, we offer 4 one-week sessions, and girls may attend for the day or reside on campus. Girls choose one class on which to focus for the whole session. No matter what course a student attends, she has plenty of opportunities to get to know all the Summer Circles students and staff.

How do I get to camp?
Saint Joseph College is located in West Hartford, CT. While many families drive to Summer Circles, we do offer safe and convenient airport pick-up and drop-off service for those who choose to fly. This service is currently offered to those using the Bradley International Airport (BDA).

Are there organized activities during free time?
Yes! In addition to organized activities, students can also use the computer labs, swim in the pool, or even explore our athletic facilities and track. For many of our students, just relaxing, playing games, hanging out in the quad, or even taking a nap in their room is the perfect way to end a rewarding day.

Will I have access to computer labs?
Yes! During afternoon free time and in the evenings, girls can use the computers for e-mail or the Internet. This is a fun time for students to catch up with family and friends at home and tell them what a wonderful time they are having at Summer Circles.

This is our daughter's first sleep away experience; is this program suited for us?
Yes. Our staff is extremely well trained, and monitoring the experience of our first-time students is one of our top priorities. Each student rooms with another of the same age, and our well-trained staff serve as role models, confidantes, and advisors. Our careful attention to our students' surroundings creates a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for everyone. Our number one goal is to keep the girls fully engaged and academically challenged within the framework of a safe, comforting environment.

It seems very academic; will it be fun?
Yes! We know our students are on summer break and that they need to have fun, especially if they are going to learn. We offer plenty of activities, movies, games, and after-hours events; campers and counselors have a fantastic time.

Who will my roommate be?
Roommates are typically paired together by grade; we also make an effort to pair girls who are in different academic tracks, and who are from different parts of the country. Our roommate pairings enable students to meet more girls than they would in the classroom alone, and to get to know girls who have different backgrounds and interests. With plenty of lounges and comfortable spaces to hang out with new friends, Spotlight is the perfect place to get to know all sorts of amazing people.
