Centenary College Summer Scholars

| Camp Address 400 Jefferson Street Hackettstown, New Jersey 07840 USA (866) 749-6426 |
Our summer programs are here to broaden the minds of young students. Introducing them to subjects that their schools might not offer to them, but which gives them the opportunity to experiment with classes to see if they would like to pursue it as a career. Centenary caters to a diverse group of students from all over the country and the world. Our location makes us a scholastic resource and leader for summer academic endeavors. We are only 90 minutes away from New York City, and we have brought the art and culture of one of the greatest cities in the world to Centenary.
Centenary Summer is a residential-only co-ed academic program for rising 8th through 12th grade students. Located in Hackettstown New Jersey, Centenary College provides a rich learning experience in which students can make the most of their wonderful resources.
This year we are offering both a day and residential option for our students. Our day students will have all of the same academic opportunities as our residential students. We are also offering an extended day option for students that would like to join us for breakfast, dinner and evening activities.
For the 2009 season, we offer 4 one-week sessions running from Sunday to Friday. Each session we offer the 8 academic tracks. Within many of our academic tracks, we offer a variety of focus areas. Please refer to the course descriptions for further detail on these. Students may sign up for one or more sessions. Students attending multiple sessions may stay in the same course without repeating the curriculum, or may choose a new academic track. All sessions accept students at all levels.
Students attending multiple sessions also have the option of staying on campus between sessions. The weekend stay-over gives students a better chance to get to know the staff and campus, and includes fun and diverting activities and events. The additional fee charged for this service allows the program to provide uninterrupted supervision and fun. Students who live in the area are welcome to enjoy the comforts of home and return on the next Sunday, refreshed and ready to start a new session.

Who will my roommate be?
Roommates are matched by age and the information provided in the student profile. Four students live together in a suite, and resident halls are samegender by floor. Staff members live on each floor to provide 24-hour supervision.
I'm flying to camp; can someone pick me up?
Yes. The College offers drivers and vans to pick up students at Newark Airport. Students are escorted by a Summer Scholar staff member. For those who choose this service, payment and travel information must be submitted via our secure online system by June 1.
Can I bring my cell phone or laptop?
Students may bring their cell phones, however we do implement a strict cell phone use policy. We do this for two reasons: cell phone use can be disruptive to the academic environment and can prevent students from connecting with those surrounding them on-campus. Students may take cell phones on all off-campus trips, to provide an extra level of safety. Students and parents may reach each other at any time, 24-hours a day, through the program office and security office phone numbers. Students may not bring personal laptops to the program but may use the labs for email.
How well supervised are the students while attending Centenary?
Safety is our number one priority at Centenary, and the environment we create is filled with excitement, relaxation, and opportunity. Throughout the day, students are offered a variety of supervised activities tailored to their interests and energy level. With a staff of experienced, highly trained teachers and mentors, Centenary provides the necessary supervision to ensure the safety and well being of our students at all times.
What is the student profile and what else is in the welcome pack email?
The welcome pack arrives in your email inbox the same day that you register online. The email includes important programming information and an attached PDF with forms that must be filled out and presented to the designated Centenary staff on registration day. The student profile must be completed online by June 1. Health forms must be mailed by June 1.
