The island jewel of Southern California is a destination for millions of visitors each year. Few, however, have the opportunity to see Catalina Island’s real character — its rolling hills, hidden harbors, sandy beaches and endemic wildlife.
The Catalina Experience™ seeks to revive the lost connections among nature, the outdoors and our youth. We are offering a one of a kind experience for children ages 10 to 17 on Catalina Island beginning June 21, 2010. Our campers will enjoy the benefits of decades of research and exploration of Catalina Island and its surrounding waters. The fun-filled outdoor education program will include kayaking treks, skin diving tours, games, evening events, camp fires, astronomy, Indian lore, history, geology, boat trips and more. Transportation aboard a licensed ferry takes you directly to our facility at Whites Landing, leaving kids in the capable hands of our experienced staff from the boat dock, to the island, and back in this fantastic week-long camp. Space is limited, so register online or download your registration packet today!
The Catalina Experience™ takes you to White’s Landing — gateway to Catalina’s interior and positioned on the island’s most expansive beach. Included on our acreage of pristine Southern California property are basketball courts, beach volleyball courts, large sports field for soccer and softball, and road access to the island's interior. Campers stay in 8-person bunk style tent cabins situated on raised platforms, and eat in ouer Baja inspired dining facility complete with beachfront palapas!
The Catalina Experience™ was started by Eugene Anderson. As a 25-year veteran to Southern California and Catalina Island marine science research and education, Anderson has had a successful career providing outdoor experiences for hundreds of thousands of individuals. He was one of the founding organizers and original program director of the Long Beach Marine Institute, an organization that continues to provide boat programs and camps for schools and individuals from throughout the Southwest United States. He is currently the on-site camp director, utilizing his decades of experience to make your Catalina Experience one to remember!
